Song – That Day is Done

This is an a cappella recording of the song That Day is Done.

That Day is Done is a beautiful song. The first time I heard this song Elvis Costello (Declan MacManus) was singing it. The original version was co-written by Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello and appeared on Paul McCartney’s solo album, entitled Flowers in the Dirt, released in 1989. However, the version that I heard, by Elvis Costello, remains the only version that I have ever heard, maybe because I liked it so much that I didn’t need to hear any others. Ha!

Anyway, ever since I heard it, I have wanted to sing it. And so I have.

Nothing professional here.  I’m a man and a mic. Turn up the volume.

That Day is Done recording – Joshua Hannum a cappella vocals - Duration: 5:10

She is, in a word

She is in a word

her name, in a sound – her voice

in it all remains,

remains

                                     her noise

in it all remains,

for thought to nest

in a bodies gape

as her volume crests

from the gape refrains,

I sit, I listen to her shape.
